In Remembrance Sundays
Join us weekly to read the names of children killed in Gaza
In Remembrance Sundays
Al Jazeera released a list of names of children who lost their lives in Gaza, accompanied by their ages. This list, while poignant and heartbreaking, is unfortunately outdated, as it only reflects a fraction of the tragic reality. We are acutely aware that the number of children affected by the ongoing conflict has risen significantly since the publication of this list. Each name represents a life cut short, a future extinguished, and a family left in mourning. It serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace and protection for children caught in the crossfire of conflict. The list we used is available here: https://interactive.aljazeera.com/aje/2024/israel-war-on-gaza-10000-children-killed/
Lists of other groups killed in Gaza come from various other sources.
The List
Format
Each weekend, we gathered to read the names of the children killed in Gaza, their names printed solemnly on pages that serve as a haunting reminder of their lost lives. We begin this solemn task at age 0, honoring the youngest victims first, and gradually work our way through the weeks, each name representing a life cut short. This ritual is not just about remembrance; it is a powerful act of solidarity and grief, allowing us to reflect on the profound impact of violence on the innocent. With each name we read aloud, we strive to ensure these children are not forgotten, their stories echoing in our hearts and minds.
We have now moved to reading the names of different groups of people killed in Gaza, including health care workers, journalists and others. This Sunday, February 16th we will read the names of humanitarian aid workers starting at 1:30pm.
